The evolution of SGM’s ‘Resort Development Team’ to the current ‘Civil Services Sector’ highlights one aspect of growth and diversity fostered by SGM co-founders Dean Gordon and Louis Meyer. The original Resort Development team led by Dean through the 90’s and into the mid-2000’s consisted of 6-8 folks who provided civil design for some of the largest resort projects across the Central Mountains and Western Slope of Colorado, including Aspen Highlands Village, Maroon Creek Club, Aspen Glen, River Valley Ranch, and Mt Crested Butte Town Center. When the larger development projects started slowing down prior to the recession, SGM added transportation and construction management services to our civil engineering mix, as our focus turned to County and City transportation projects, as well as CDOT Local Agency work.

The original team under Dean’s leadership has matured into shareholders, sector leaders, office managers and entrepreneurs over the past 20 years, and the team as grown four-fold over that time period. With core staff in Glenwood Springs and civil engineers in Grand Junction, Gunnison, Salida, and Durango, SGM’s Civil Services Team is well-positioned in this post-recession market to meet the increasingly complex infrastructure needs of municipalities and counties, as well as residential and commercial development markets, in the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond.
