Technical Competencies
The SGM Structural Team remains at the top of our industry by staying engaged with numerous professional affiliations, continually seeking out professional education opportunities for our team members, utilizing the latest design and drafting software and keeping current with appropriate design codes.
Every year we are asked to design increasingly more complex structures and, with that, the use of more powerful software has become a necessity. We also use our AutoCad 3D modeling capability to provide graphical renderings to our clients. By coupling these engineering and drafting tools, we are able to efficiently provide dynamic designs that meet our clients’ expectations throughout the lifecycle of the project, from concept to construction. Our structural group utilizes RAM Elements®, Enercalc®, Risa 3D® and Autodesk® Architectural Desktop.
Familiarity with multiple design codes is an inherent necessity within the SGM Structural Team. With a variety of products, ranging from buildings to bridges, we are required to follow all applicable design codes including:
- International Building Code
- International Residential Code
- ACI Codes
- AISC Manual of Steel Construction
- Masonry Standards Joint Committee Building Code
- AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications
- American Wood Council National Design Specification
SGM’s Structural Team members belong to the following professional organizations:
