When Dean Gordon and Louis Meyer founded SGM in 1986, they envisioned their small company of 15 employees would one day be a leading engineering firm on the Western Slope. Today, having grown to more than 100 employees, SGM has achieved that goal through diligence, commitment and a common vision for mountain communities throughout western Colorado. Warren Swanson, PE President, Glenwood Springs
Warren is President of SGM. Warren has worked for SGM since 2002, most recently as SGM’s Water Services Sector Leader, providing comprehensive design and consulting services for municipal water systems. Warren is a professional engineer with nearly 20 years of experience, the last eight of which have been in leadership roles at SGM. Warren received a master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a bachelor’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Cornell University.

Jeff Simonson, PE Civil Services Sector Leader, Glenwood Springs
Jeff is a native of Western Colorado and his professional career is focused on serving municipal and private sector clients in small towns and rural settings, resulting in his keen understanding of working within rural communities. Jeff provides a diverse, multi-disciplined approach spanning over 30 years of project and construction management. He joined SGM in 1986.

Chad Paulson, PE, CWP Public Sector Leader, Glenwood Springs
Chad has over 20 years of experience in the design, construction and management of municipal and special district projects. Since 2000 Chad has served as project manager, process engineer and lead design engineer on numerous wastewater treatment facilities, water treatment facilities, municipal pump stations and system infrastructure projects. His professional career is focused on rate studies, comprehensive/capital improvement plans, infrastructure master plans, project permitting and SRF funding.

Dan Cokley, PE, PTOE Principal Engineer, Glenwood Springs
Dan has worked for SGM since 1989. Dan’s diverse and multi-disciplined approach makes him well-suited to lead the traffic and transportation, land development, and CAD teams at SGM. His 25 years of project and construction management spans roadway design, district and municipal infrastructure improvements, resort and subdivision development, dam design and permitting.

Jerry Burgess, PE Gunnison Office Manager
Jerry has been with SGM since 2006. He has a broad and diverse background in all facets of civil engineering, construction, facilities management, project management and infrastructure rehabilitation. Jerry’s engineering and construction experience has included private development design and construction as well as extensive governmental work. The bulk of his experience has been serving the National Park Service and municipalities such as Salida and Buena Vista, and Gunnison County.

Dave Kotz, PE, CFM Senior Engineer, Glenwood Springs
Dave has over 25 years of experience as a project manager/engineer for municipal and private projects, focusing on drainage and water system analysis and design. While hydrology and hydraulics have been his specialties, his expertise includes all facets of drainage engineering and floodplain administration, water distribution modeling, civil infrastructure design and construction management. He joined SGM in 1993.

Troy Feese CFO, Office Services Sector Leader, Glenwood Springs
Troy brings over 20 years of accounting and finance experience to SGM, focusing on the daily management of accounting functions and the preparation of accurate and reliable financial information necessary for business operations. Troy oversees accounts receivable and payable, payroll and project budgets, and supervises professional clerical accounting employees. Troy has been with SGM since 2006.

Mike Fowler, PE Structural/MEP/Field Engineering Sector Leader, Glenwood Springs
Mike is a Senior Engineer and is the Sector Leader for the Structural/MEP/Field Engineering Sector. He brings 23 years of experience in the design and management of a variety of bridge and transportation infrastructure projects in Colorado and the Western U.S. His experience encompasses many aspects of transportation infrastructure projects including bridges, structural evaluations, retaining walls and sign structures.

Eric Bikis, PG Senior Consultant, Bikis Water Consultants Founder
Eric holds a master of science degree in hydrogeology and has more than 37 years of hydrological, hydrogeological, geological, and geophysical experience. Eric founded and led Bikis Water Consultants, a six-person water resources consulting firm for nine years. He has expertise in managing multiple water supply and water planning studies, evaluating water rights for water court applications including augmentation plans, studying water quality issues, and overseeing environmental analyses, including NEPA studies.

Bob Brandeberry, PLS Survey Sector Leader, Glenwood Springs
Bob has over 15 years of experience providing surveying services for private and government sectors. He currently directs SGM’s field surveyors who are responsible for boundary, ALTA, topographic and improvement surveys, oil & gas plats, and construction staking. Bob also has extensive experience as a survey supervisor, project manager and field supervisor for various design surveys and topographic mapping.

Chris Lehrman, PE Senior Engineer, Glenwood Springs
Chris had worked for SGM since 2004, providing full-service engineering to numerous municipal clients across western Colorado. Chris is known for helping his clients improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their design review, construction inspection, and infrastructure acceptance process for new development. He is also a trusted advisor for design/construction standards, utility rules and regulations, water/wastewater utility fee/rate structures, and capital improvement plans.

John Boulden, PE Senior Engineer, Grand Junction
John has lead the SGM Grand Junction office since 2008. He is known for using his background in structural forensic investigation and time spent in the construction industry to design structural projects that are economical as well as constructible, including commercial/residential structures, bridges, and retaining walls. John truly enjoys meeting and visiting with people, and has an authentic communication style that resonates with clients and project stakeholders.

Matt Webster Chief Operating Officer, Glenwood Springs
Matt has worked for SGM since 2005, and oversees the day-to-day administration of the company. Matt directs SGM’s operational policies, objectives and initiatives, and oversees marketing and branch office operations. Matt also provides civil engineering design for land development projects in the Aspen area.

Tim Barnett, PLS Professional Land Surveyor, Durango
Tim leads SGM’s Durango Survey Team. He is a seasoned survey professional with over 20 years of experience. Tim is known for his broad technical knowledge and project management skills, leading teams to provide surveying and construction staking for public and private development, CDOT, and airport projects. Tim is also an FAA-licensed drone pilot.

Brandyn Bair, PE, CWP Senior Engineer, Glenwood Springs
Brandyn has worked for SGM since 2003 and specializes in the design and construction management of water and wastewater treatment facilities. Brandyn has extensive permitting and funding expertise to support SGM’s wastewater clients with treatment facility upgrades, and serves as the Engineer of Record for numerous sanitation districts.

Angie Fowler, PE Water Resources & Environmental Sector Leader, Glenwood Springs
Angie is SGM’s Water Sector Services Leader and a Senior Water Resources Engineer with over 20 years of experience in watershed management, water quality modeling, and stormwater and water quality permitting. She is a strong communicator who manages multi-disciplinary projects, especially those requiring stakeholder consensus-building.

Jordan Dimick, PE Durango Office Manager, Durango
Jordan joined SGM’s Water Resources Team in 2016. He has over a decade of experience in water resources and water rights engineering experience, including water rights adjudication engineering support, water demand and usage analyses, water supply planning projects, water supply infrastructure planning, water allocation modeling, master planning, and water quality analyses. He routinely provides engineering support and serves as an expert witness in water court applications. Jordan became the Durango Office Manager in 2019.

Shawn Binion, PLS Principal, Glenwood Springs
Shawn is a licensed, professional land surveyor (PLS) and brings 20 years of extensive Western Slope survey experience to SGM. Shawn is known for providing strong project management and excellent relationship management skills for his clients. He brings a wealth of knowledge in new survey technology, such as 3D scanning, to advance the state of surveying at SGM. Shawn joined the Glenwood Survey Sector in 2017.

Eric leads SGM’s Branch Office Civil Team. He has over three decades of experience in civil engineering and provides senior-level oversight on various civil engineering projects. Eric specializes in surface water hydrology, stream channel/bridge hydraulics, jurisdictional dam design and rehabilitation, water distribution system modeling, and water supply and treatment.
